Thank You Tik Tok

I can't say that I ever thought it would actually happen

What a weird couple of days it has been. While I wrapped up the tail end of my hosted trip to Iceland, I watched from outside the U.S. with bated breath wondering if Joe Biden would step in and do something. Silly me, but I should have known better.

By the time I got back to the United States on Friday night, I settled in and sat down to originally report about Tik Tok going dark on Sunday despite Biden saying he wouldn’t enforce the ban. What ended up by the end of my video was my heartfelt thank you for the community Tik Tok helped me to create.

I have been at this for years. As far back as I can remember advocacy has been in my bones. From my days starting my first Gay-Straight Alliance in high school to registering high school kids to vote when Obama was running. That grassroots desire for change has been, and always will be who I am.

But Tik Tok gave me an outlet to spread that message. More than blogging had in my prior life.

From my roots as an author the words just came to me. Spanning generations. The most diverse group of followers from girls my daughter’s age straight through some who were old enough to be my own grandmother. Mostly women, but shoutout to all the men hanging like champs in our estrogen ocean!

You are the real MVP’s!

Most of all I wanted to share a few things on how I am going to be moving forward given the fact that we no longer have this app.

My substack right here is where I will be publishing the most. I believe that the news should be free, and not behind a paywall. To me that is real journalism, and because of that I will never make anyone pay for news. If you would like to become a paid subscriber, awesome! I appreciate you very much!

If you cannot afford it, I understand. We are all having a rough go of it. I still appreciate you for showing up for me and being a part of this community.

I also have decided that I will not be participating in any of the blackout events that many are engaging in. I applaud you all for doing it and taking a stand! I, as a source of news for many that spans all ages, and technology spectrums will not do that only because I know it will have a negative impact on some of those.

Some can only navigate certain apps, and I understand that. In the mean time, I have changed all of my ad settings on the meta platforms, and I encourage you to as well. That link gives you detailed instructions on how you can as well.

I will also be on various other platforms including YouTube where I have been cross posting all of my content for a little bit.

Lastly, it won’t be forever. Because Shitler is already on his shitty Truth Social platform talking about some socialist solution to the Tik Tok Ban because he doesn’t want Tik Tok dark tomorrow for his stupid inauguration nobody is going to watch.

I would like to take a moment to point out this entire post is socialist. Socialism in full view for the American people. He is also trying to sell the app to his friends.

It is going to be a mess no matter how we slice it and this is probably the beginning of the end considering where Twitter ended up. Honestly? Who fucking knows at this point. All I know is that even creators like myself can’t access our creator funds or anything.
